Based on my experience, Aloe vera leaf rot is more damaging than root rot. More often, leaf rot happens very fast, even overnight, you will see your Aloe vera totally rotten when it looked very much healthy the day before.
Aloe vera leaf rot may start from the crown or at the base of the leaves. When the leaf rot starts at the crown, there is no way you can save the plant. You can only propagate what's left of it. But when the rotting starts at the base, then it is still manageable.
How To Manage Aloe vera Leaf Rot
Remove the rotten leaves at the base and clean the stem of the Aloe vera plant. Get rid of the rest of the rotten parts of the leaves by washing the stem with water.
Let the stem dry for a couple of days before covering it again with soil.
