What Do Healthy Aloe vera Roots Look Like?

Aloe vera root rot is one of the most search term in Aloe vera gardening and plant care.  This is because many people growing Aloe vera at home blame root rot as the cause of their plant's demise.

Aloe vera plant normally has rotten roots because it is part of the cycle of the plant's root system.  When the roots get older, they will rot and the plant will grow new ones.  Most of these new roots grow on the upper part of the trunk and a few on the lower part, that is why the plant has a shallow root system.

When the plant's roots rot faster than the growth of new ones, the plant will experience loss of water because there are not enough roots to absorb enough water from the soil to supply the plant's needs.

Watch the video below to see what does an Aloe vera with a healthy root system look like compared with the one with root rot.
