How Fast Does Aloe vera Plant Grow?

A few people have asked me in my YouTube channel about how fast do Aloe vera plants grow.  So, I made a video measuring the growth of the Aloe vera plants in a span of six weeks.

The Aloe vera plants that I measured are those planted in rivers sand or river mud and in a container.  Aloe vera grows much faster if planted directly on the ground and in a fertile soil.

I started the experiment by measuring the length of the Aloe vera leaf and marked the leaf with a permanent marker, so that it would be easy for me to find the leaf after a few weeks.  Also, the leaf that I measured and marked is the second from the youngest leaves.  Any more than one leaf following the marked leaf are newly grown leaves.

Plants don't grow the same even if they are planted in the same soil or medium, so I used three plants in this experiment in order to get an average growth rate.

The first leaf measured is 11.5 centimeters, a little more than 4.5 inches in length.  The second leaf measured 7 centimeters or almost 3 inches, and the third leaf measured 12 centimeters or almost 5 inches.

After six weeks, the leaf that I marked from the first plant has grown very much longer.  Also, the plant has grown four new leaves, and when I measured the leaf that I marked, it reaches 13 inches, which means the leaf has grown 8.5 inches in six weeks.

The second plant has grown 3 new leaves, and when I measured the leaf that I marked, it reaches 10.5 inches, which means, the leaf has grown 7.5 inches in six weeks.

Also, the third plant has grown three new leaves and when I measured the leaf that I marked it reaches 10.5 inches, which means the leaf has grown 5.5 inches in six weeks.

Based on this experiment, the Aloe vera plant can grow 2 to 3 new leaves per month if they are planted in river sand and in a container.  If the plant can grow 2 to 3 new leaves per month, it also means that you can harvest 2 to 3 leaves per month.

As I have mentioned earlier, Aloe vera can grow faster and bigger in compost soil. This means that you can harvest more leaves per month if they are planted in a soil mixed with compost, or in a fertile soil.
